For some time, we had been dreaming of our own place abroad. During a family holiday in Andalusia in autumn 2021, we warmed to Spain. The relaxed atmosphere, the climate, the delicious food appealed to us. Our eye fell on the Axarquía region because of its tranquillity, beautiful nature, friendly people and great weather. Upon returning home, we looked online at the possibilities and ended up at Second Home Andalusia. This seemed almost too good to be true; people who could arrange the whole process from search to purchase and then maintenance and rental for us from their own experience. We were immediately excited.

Our first meeting with Marita was in the village square in Canillas de Aceituno. Marita asked very thorough questions about our motivations and wishes, and we clicked right away. After that visit, the Second Home Andalusia team started looking for possible properties. We looked at quite a few, and really appreciated the honest advice. For example, we were very excited about a 'building project' in Canillas de Aceituno, we saw the potential. Marita pointed out everything we could expect if we started there, which made us give up. Very valuable!

During our second visit in July 2022, Marita showed us a house in Sedella, which met everything on our list. Lots of outdoor space, quiet but still in the village, lots of attractive, original details. This was our dream home! The team from Second Home Andalusia then guided us through the purchase process in a very professional and pleasant manner, which is really different in Spain than in the Netherlands.

In October 2022, the time had come to hand over the keys. A truly special moment in which Marita was present and walked out of the door almost as happy as we were 😊

There were still things to be done; we wanted to renovate the bathroom and create a second bathroom. Here again, the team from Second Home Andalusia guided us tremendously well. Malcolm was our intermediary and translated our wishes to the contractor. He understood very well what we wanted and did not want, and made it possible to do the renovation from a distance. It turned out fantastically beautiful!

Then began the exciting moment of renting out and welcoming first guests. Caroline really is a fantastic host, she makes sure the house is tiptop when guests arrive, welcomes them warmly and, both Malcolm and Caroline, go out of their way to make the guests feel comfortable. They communicate clearly and pleasantly, it really is an ongoing collaboration. We couldn't have wished for better!
